Ground Tackle Selection Tips
Anchor Selection
Next-generation anchors (Rocna, Mantus, Ultra, Spade) offer superior holding in most bottom types with less weight.
Always size up for high-windage vessels, catamarans, or if anchoring in challenging conditions.
A second anchor (kedge) should be 50-65% the weight of your primary.
Rode Recommendations
All-chain rode provides best holding and protects against chafe on coral/rock.
Minimum chain: 1 foot per foot of boat length, or 3x maximum anchoring depth.
Chain + rope combination: At least 20-30 ft of chain, then 3-strand nylon.
